RV Maintenance & Safety Inspections

Proactive RV Protection: Safeguarding Your Investment & Your Family

Most owners are surprised to find that an RV requires significantly more specialized maintenance than a residential home or a standard vehicle. Between the constant 'rolling earthquake' of highway travel and the extreme East Tennessee humidity, your rig is under a unique set of environmental stresses.

At Rocky Valley RV, our mission is to shift you from reactive repairs to proactive protection. We specialize in identifying potential failures before they lead to costly water damage or mechanical breakdowns. Serving Dandridge, Douglas Lake, & the Great Smoky Mountains, we provide the preventative maintenance necessary to keep your investment secure and your family safe on the road.

The "Big Three" of
RV Longevity

1. RV Roof & Sealant Integrity: The "6-Month Rule

The Problem: Most RV manufacturers use lap sealants that naturally dry out, shrink, and crack over time. Because your RV frame constantly flexes during highway travel, these microscopic cracks can expand into major leak points overnight.

The Industry Standard: To prevent costly water damage and structural rot, we recommend a comprehensive RV roof inspection and vertical seam check at least every six months.

The Rocky Valley Difference: We provide more than a visual scan from the ground. Our technicians perform a hands-on "thumb-test" inspection on every inch of Dicor lap sealant, clearance lights, and termination rails. We identify hidden entry points before they become insurance claims, ensuring your rig remains 100% watertight in the heavy East Tennessee rains.

2. RV Running Gear & Axle Safety: The "Annual Standard"

The Problem: Unlike modern passenger vehicles, most RV and travel trailer wheel bearings are not sealed units. Over time, heat and friction cause bearing grease to break down and liquify. Neglecting this critical maintenance is the #1 cause of RV roadside fires, seized axles, and "wheel-off" accidents during transit.

The Industry Standard: For maximum safety, a professional Wheel Bearing Repack and Brake Inspection should be performed every 12 months or 10,000 miles.

The Rocky Valley Difference: We don't just "pump grease" into a zerk fitting. Our technicians pull the hubs, completely clean the bearings to inspect for heat pitting and metal fatigue, and hand-pack them with premium Lucas Red-N-Tacky grease. We also perform a comprehensive RV brake shoe and magnet inspection to ensure your stopping power is 100% reliable before you hit the East Tennessee hills.

3. Propane & Life Safety Systems: The "Semi-Annual Safety Check"

The Problem: Constant road vibration can cause brass LP (liquid propane) fittings to loosen over time, creating "slow leaks" that are difficult to detect by smell alone. Furthermore, RV carbon monoxide (CO) and propane detectors have a strict 5-to-7-year shelf life and often expire silently, leaving your family unprotected.

The Industry Standard: We recommend a Semi-Annual RV Propane Manometer Test to verify that your gas system is 100% airtight and operating at the correct pressure.

The Rocky Valley Difference: We don't just "sniff" for leaks. Our technicians perform a timed drop-pressure test using a high-precision manometer. If there is a leak the size of a pinhole anywhere in your lines or appliances, our specialized equipment will identify it. We also audit your RV life safety detectors (CO, LP, and Smoke) to ensure they are within their operational dates, giving you total peace of mind at the campground.

Appliance Hygiene & Efficiency

Proper RV maintenance does more than just prevent catastrophic failure; it significantly improves the efficiency and lifespan of your expensive appliances. Our specialized service plans ensure your systems operate at peak performance:

  • RV Water Heater Service: We perform annual tank flushes to remove calcium 'scaling' and sediment buildup. By replacing the sacrificial anode rod and cleaning the burner tube, we prevent tank corrosion and ensure consistent hot water.

  • RV Air Conditioning Maintenance: We go beyond the filters. By deep-cleaning the condenser and evaporator coils, we reduce electrical amp draw and can improve cooling performance by up to 10 degrees. This is essential for those humid East Tennessee summers at the campground.

  • RV Furnace & Heating Service: We clean the combustion chamber of soot, debris, and spider webs to ensure clean ignition. This critical service prevents carbon monoxide (CO) blowback and ensures your heating system is reliable for late-season camping in the Great Smoky Mountains.

🛡 Protect Your Warranty

Did you know? Most Extended Warranties and even some Factory Warranties can be voided if you cannot provide proof of professional annual maintenance. We provide a full digital service history for your records.
